Lights, Camera, Action!
I’m not showing the trailer yet, but this is the behind the scenes of the trailer.
When building apps, you wear many hats – especially if you don’t have a team (hello indie hackers!)
This time, I’m a director, scriptwriter, and video editor for the app’s trailer
Why do I need a trailer?
If a picture paints a thousand words, then a video paints a thousand pictures, so a video paints much more words (wut? ๐)
There’s just something in a video that makes something more enticing, and I have to make the app as enticing as it can be if I’m going to hit my revenue goals
The problem is I have a grand vision for the app, filled with so many features that I know I won’t be able to deliver in less than a month
I don’t want to over promise (in the video) and under deliver (in the app) โ because I only have 22 days left
It would be great to do the exact opposite, but I also want those watching the video to be hyped about the app (even though it’s still being built), not disappointed by the lack of features
So, I have a dilemma and my first wall to climb
Should I just skip the video trailer altogether? or just delay its release? or how about delaying the app launch?
How can I reach out to potential customers without a video, landing page, or even product?
Well, after procrastinating, I finally got the answer (you see? procrastinating is productive ๐)
That’s the big drop for tomorrow, stay tuned!
